The non-profit organization, Historic Augusta, has a mission statement to “preserve historically or architecturally significant sites in Augusta and Richmond County, GA. The current president of Historic Augusta is our own, George D. Bush.
On March 15, 2023, George spoke at the event celebrating Historic Augusta acquiring the house of the Rev. Charles T. Walker. On October 24th, Historic Augusta announced the purchase of 5 endangered properties. The purchased properties include the Old First Baptist Church downtown, the Green House on Miller Street, two buildings on Wrightsboro Road, the Righton Robertson House on McDowell Street, and an area of the Sand Hills Neighborhood.
