We offer services to adults and children pursuing disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits from the Social Security Administration. Whether you have applied for benefits already or are still contemplating doing so, we can help you. We realize the drastic effect that disability can have on you physically and emotionally, as well as the financial impact it can have on you and your family. For most people, obtaining Social Security benefits is a long, complicated process. We work diligently to navigate you through this process and to help you obtain benefits as quickly as possible.
For purposes of Social Security benefits (for an adult), “disability” means that you are unable to work due to a medical condition. In order to qualify for benefits, your disability must last or be expected to last for at least one year or to result in death. Social Security pays only for total disability. No benefits are payable for partial disability or short-term disability.
The Social Security Administration offers disability benefits under two programs:
1. The Social Security disability insurance program pays benefits to you and certain family members if you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes.
2. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited resources.
For most people, the medical requirements for disability payments are the same under both programs and disability is determined by the same process.
